Welcome to the World, Mia | A Fort Sanders Fresh 48 Session in Knoxville, TN

There’s something incredibly special about those first 48 hours with a brand-new baby—the sleepy snuggles, tiny fingers, soft stretches, and all those little details that change far too quickly. This Fresh 48 session at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee, was all about capturing those first precious moments with sweet baby Mia.

Dressed in the most beautiful purple gown, Mia was already showing off plenty of personality for her Fresh 48 photos. And unlike some sleepy newborns, Mia had her eyes wide open for almost the entire session! She was alert, curious, and ready to take in the world around her, which made for some especially sweet portraits of her brand-new personality.

Fresh 48 Photography at Fort Sanders

Fresh 48 sessions are designed to document your baby's first day or two in the hospital, before you head home and begin your new routine together. Unlike a traditional posed newborn session, Fresh 48 photography keeps things simple, natural, and true to the moment.

For Mia's session at Fort Sanders, we focused on all those tiny details that make these early days so meaningful—her wide-open eyes, tiny fingers and toes, sweet expressions, and her beautiful purple gown.

Her alert little personality made it especially fun to photograph her. There’s something so sweet about seeing a brand-new baby looking around with those big, curious eyes, taking in everything for the very first time.

Why I Love Fresh 48 Sessions

As a Knoxville Fresh 48 photographer, I love that these sessions don't require everything to be perfect. Your room doesn't have to be spotless, your baby doesn't have to cooperate perfectly, and you certainly don't have to know exactly what you're doing yet.

You're brand-new parents getting to know your brand-new baby—and that's exactly what makes these photographs beautiful.

I work with babies every day and am comfortable photographing all of the unpredictable moments that come with those first days. My goal is to make the session feel easy and relaxed while preserving the little things you'll never want to forget.

Capturing the Details You'll Miss Someday

One of my favorite things about Fresh 48 photography is photographing the details that seem so ordinary in the moment but become incredibly meaningful later.

The tiny hospital bracelet. Those impossibly small fingers. The way a newborn curls their legs up. Their first sleepy stretches. Those wide-open newborn eyes. The little gown they wore during their first days.

Mia's purple gown was such a sweet part of her session and added a beautiful pop of color to her first photographs.

These are the photographs that let you look back and remember not only what your baby looked like, but what those first days actually felt like.
