Nobody has quite figured out the schedule yet, coffee is probably keeping everyone alive, Mom is exhausted, Dad is staring at the baby like he still can’t believe he’s real—and somehow, in the middle of all of it, you have this tiny new person who has completely changed your world.

That’s what I love about Fresh 48 photography. It isn’t about perfectly posed newborns or having everything together. It’s about remembering what it actually felt like to meet your baby.

I recently had the sweetest opportunity to document those first days with baby Hudson at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, TN, and his Fresh 48 session was filled with all of those little details that make those early days so unforgettable.

Hudson was brand new, tiny, and already very loved. Those first few days are such a fleeting part of the newborn stage, and they’re over before you realize it.

Fresh 48 sessions are designed to capture those authentic first moments—the tiny fingers and toes, sleepy faces, newborn stretches, hospital details, and all of the love and emotion surrounding your growing family.

There’s something about photographing a newborn in the hospital that I absolutely love. Maybe it’s because everything is still so new. The baby is brand new, the family is settling into a brand-new normal, and there’s a sense of excitement that you simply can’t recreate later.
